Proceedings of the 2nd EBS: There will be 2 different type of papers for the publication of the lectures and posters presented:
You may choose for your presentation the type you think is appropriate, based on methodes and data used. Manuscripts for both types must follow instructions for ACTA THERIOLOGICA: ________________________________________________________________ Slightly modified according to needs of 2nd European Beaver Symposium. Policy. Research papers, reviews, and short communications dealing with any aspect of beaver biology, ecology etc. are considered for publication. Providing that they have not been published, submitted, or accepted for publication elsewhere, and they have been approved by all co-authors. Referees and editors judge each submitted manuscript on data originality, ideas, interpretations, accuracy, conciseness, clarity, appropriate subject matter, and contribution to existing literature. If the papers accepted are published in ACTA THERIOLOGICA they become the copyright of the Journal, which covers the exclusive rights to translation, reproduction and distribution all of the articles printed in the Journal. Manuscript should be concise but informative, written in correct English. Three copies of the manuscript (one typed on one side of the sheet only and two copies on both sides to keep postage charges at a minimum), each including all tables and labelled xero-copies of figures, should be sent to the Editor, Andrzej Czech, Institute of Environmental Sciences, Jagiellonian University, ul. Gronostajowa 3, 30-387 Krakow, Poland. Title to be brief, containing words useful for indexing and information retrieval. An abstract should not exceed 200 words. The author's institutional affiliation and postal address should be inserted under the abstract. Provide 3 to 5 key words indicating the scope of the paper. A short running page headline (not more than 40 characters, including spaces) should be suggested. The manuscript should be in final form, type-written, not hyphenated, double spaced with wide margins. Approximate position of illustrations and tables in the text should be indicated in the margin. Binomial Latin names should be used in accordance with International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, in full, with authority and the year of description at first mention in the abstract and text. Priority to scientific names is suggested. Units should conform to the International System of Units (SI). Avoid proportional fonts and underlining in the text. For numbers, use digits except at the beginning of the sentence. References. Cite only essential sources. Citation of unpublished works should be avoided but if they are necessary, they should not be included in Reference list. References in the text should be given in the following forms: (Helle 1957, Riney 1957, Julander et al. 1963, Collins and Urness 1988), or `Helle (1957) said...' (Lopez, in press), (R. Smith, unpubl.), or (pers. comm.), or (in prep.). References should be listed alphabetically by author at the end of manuscript. List only works referred to in the text. Show issue number if pagination is not consecutive throughout the volume. Titles in languages not using roman script should be given in transliteration according to the standard of the British Standards Institution (BSI). All titles originally given only in other languages than English, French, German and Spanish should be translated into English and given in [ ]-brackets along with information on the original language of the paper. Full titles (without abbreviations) of journals, proceedings and other sources should be given. Follow examples shown below: journal: book: chapter: thesis: All tables, figures and illustrations must be referred to in the text. Avoid the presentation of the same data in both text, graphical and tabular form. Tables should be clearly headed, if possible, self explanatory, and typed on separate sheets. They should be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals. Double space throughout, omit vertical lines, and leave margins. All illustrations (including photographs) should be used with discretion and planned for the smallest size possible. They are only justified if they clarify or reduce the text. They are classified as figures and numbered consecutively. They should be suitable for 50% reduction and should be drawn so that on reduction they will not exceed the print area (190 x 135 mm). High contrast and sharply focused glossy prints in the desired final size may be submitted for original good quality line drawings. For halftone illustrations well-contrasted photographic prints should be submitted in final size. Computer drawings are acceptable provided they are of comparable quality to line drawings. Figures, letters, and other symbols on illustrations should be drawn so large that they will be at least 2 mm high when reduced. Lettering style and size when reduced should be the same in all figures. Captions to figures should be self explanatory and must be collected on a separate sheet. All illustrations should bear figure number and senior author's name. Editorial processing of papers. Authors will be notified of acceptance, rejection, or need for revision within three months. The Fax numbers and E-mail codes can facilitate the correspondence very much. After acceptance of the paper, send the floppy disk (IBM PC-compatible) with the electronic final version of the text (Word97, Word Perfect 5.0/5.1 are preferred) along with its one paper copy, the original figures, and, if possible, the figures saved in the Corel Draw and Encapsulated PostScript EPS formats. The disk will be returned with the reprints. Proofs should be corrected immediately upon receipt and returned by fastest means available. Extensive alterations may delay publication and will be charged to the author. Offprints. Twenty offprints are supplied free of charge. Additional copies (Twenty or its multiplies) may be ordered at current cost. Price list and order forms for offprints are sent with proofs. Authors are recommended to see Acta Theriologica 40 (1) 1995 for a new detailed guide to msc preparation, and details of layout and style. Manuscripts not conforming to the requirements will be returned for revision. ________________________________________________________________ !!! New deadline for submitting manuscripts: !!!
